Hello Smart Money People,

Today let’s talk about taming holiday spending. It is the most wonderful time of the year AND the craziest when it comes to spending! There are deals to be had. I get it. I am a sucker for a deal. I am a sucker for a lot of things. However, so you don’t feel sucker PUNCHED come January, I encourage you to have a plan. Having a plan safeguards you from making spontaneous decisions that can possibly be NOT good decisions a few hours or weeks later. You know I am a lover of the budget, the holidays are no different. If you want to enjoy the holidays now and later, set a budget and stick to it.

It is the strongest thing I can advocate for over this season. Like I would advise you NOT to go to the grocery store whilst hungry, I would advise you NOT to go to the mall without a holiday budget.

So, let’s do this.

I have created a holiday budget for you to use. There are 3 columns. The first is who you are buying for. The second is what you anticipate what you will spend. Now here comes the fun part, the 3rd column is the revised budget!! See how that works? You plan what you were going to spend and then see where you can trim back a little here and a little there. It ALL ADDS UP!! Think how awesome you will feel when January comes and there is a little extra padding in the savings account and everyone STILL had a great holiday!!!

I challenge you to give this a try this holiday season. Leave me a comment below and let me know how it goes!

As always, you’ve got this!

Happy Holidays!
